Preventive Maintenance Service Plan
The purpose of a Preventive Maintenance Service Plan is to insure more reliable performance of a diesel or gas-fired generator when it is needed for an emergency. A Plan also ensures that any warranty claims to the parts manufacturers can be supported with evidence of routine maintenance. The following Plan levels offer different degrees of preventative maintenance, and priority of service during an outage event. Greenfield Energy’s 24-hour emergency services are available to all of our customers, but priority of response is described below for Plan customers.
Plans:
Silver Service $600 / year
- All items on the services lists below (if applicable)
- One service inspection performed annually
- Oil change INCLUDED
- Priority emergency service over non-plan customers
Gold Service $850 / year
- All items on the services lists below (if applicable)
- Two service inspections performed semi-annually
- Primary service to cover the complete services list below
- Second service to include thorough inspection of engine, electrical and fuel systems, oil change INCLUDED
- Priority emergency service over Silver customers and non-plan customers
Platinum Service $1750 / year
- All items on the services lists below (if applicable)
- Two service inspections performed semi-annually
- Primary service to cover the complete services list below
- Second service to include thorough inspection of engine, electrical and fuel systems, transfer gear and general operation, oil change INCLUDED
- Battery replacement every three years – INCLUDED
- Air filter replacement as needed – INCLUDED
- Spark plug replacement as needed – INCLUDED
- Priority emergency service over Silver, Gold and non-plan customers
Services:
General Appearance
- Inspect for visual damage and/or unusual wear and tear
- Inspect all visible plumbing and electrical connections
- Clean debris from generator and wipe down enclosure
- All switches/breakers in normal operating position
Lube Oil System
- Check engine oil level
- Change engine oil and filters
- Inspect engine seals for leaks
- Tighten hose clamps as necessary
Engine Air Filter System
- Inspect engine air filter
- Inspect crankcase vent / breather (if applicable)
Engine Fuel System
- Inspect fuel system for leaks
- Tighten hose clamps as necessary
- Inspect flexible fuel lines
- Change fuel filters as needed
- Check fuel level. If fill up is required, billed separately at current price per gallon
Engine Starting System
- Clean battery terminals/posts, tighten cables as needed
- Inspect battery charger
Engine Exhaust System
- Inspect flexible exhaust coupling
- Inspect muffler and muffler wrap
- Inspect water cooled exhaust components where applicable
Main Alternator & Electrical
- Check voltage output
- Tighten connections as needed
Cooling System
- Inspect all belts and adjust as needed
- Inspect all hoses and hose clamps, tighten as needed
- Inspect radiator core for blockage or damage
- Inspect radiator cap and seal
- Check coolant level
Transfer Switch
- Ensure connections are tight
- Check main contacts
- Test transfer (where permitted)
Generator Operation
- Check for oil, coolant and exhaust leaks
- Inspect battery charging system
- Check controller for proper operation
- Check for abnormal vibration and/or noise
- Adjust voltage and frequency as needed
- Test all engine safety shutdowns
All labor charges are included for routine maintenance associated with complete system inspections and adjustments, oil changes and transfer tests unless otherwise specified by the plan level.
All materials costs are included for oil changes (oil, oil filter, oil filter seal).
All costs are included for proper disposal of used oils, lubricants, coolants and filters.
If any repair services are required, the related labor and material charges will be charged separately from the routine preventive maintenance described above. A cost estimate of the needed repairs will be provided for approval before the work is started. Costs for these repair services will be invoiced on a time and materials basis after the repair is complete.
Sales tax is required on all maintenance and repair charges in NC.
Preventive maintenance does not guarantee that generator parts will not have a sudden failure due to unforeseen issues.
Our services do not include gas line issues. Your gas company must service those issues.

If you are not interested in a Plan, please regularly check your generator’s controller. If it shows any faults please call us immediately to resolve the issue.
